To apply to be an alpha tester you must first be able to play the game (have a legal copy of hl2 and steam, installed and working), be old enough to play the game (13+) and have a working mic and speakers.
then, post a new in the Alpha applications thread like so;

Timezone: (eg +10, for Australia)
Time of day your most likely available to test: (eg, from 6pm-8pm)
"
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE NEED VERY FEW PEOPLE FOR ALPHA TESTS AND THE PUBLIC BETA WILL BE OUT VERY SOON, SO DON'T WORRY IF YOU MISS OUT.
To be listed as a host:
PM me and we'l talk about it and send u the files you'l need.
including an IM email (like your hotmail) would be helpful.
